01/06/2010

Well today was my first Thursday that wasn't the last day of the week. That might be why the day started off a little rough. I had a hard time getting going. I was about a minute and a half late to work, which doesn't sound like much, but when you realize that I'm usually there about ten minutes early you see how things were. The day at work passed as normal. Lunch was nice because I got to have leftover chili. During the day, I decided it might be fun to hang out at Starbucks and play some games so I posted an invitation on Twitter and Facebook. I only heard back from Andrew. That was ok, though, because we had so much fun yesterday.
My favorite part was when I won in two rounds
We met up at Starbucks and were forced to use a teeny tiny table. It was too small to play the games on, so we just chatted for a bit. After a little while, the people at the big table left and we immediately took the table. We played the Monopoly card game and Fluxx. We once again had a ton of fun. All in all it was a very good day. I quite enjoyed myself.

See you tomorrow.

So today was my first Wednesday that wasn't the second to last day of the week. I guess that might be why things at work were kind of...blarg. I mean it wasn't bad, but I had a hard time getting into things. It also might have been because the stations I was working on were all kind of lame (i.e. Canadian). They all involved titles that were the same as titles of different things from different years, so I had to keep looking in my notes to see which one I needed. It was a long day at work. But everything was made better when I got home.

I love this movie
My SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD Blu-Ray finally got in. Now to give you some perspective, I ordered this from Best Buy the day after Christmas. Today is the fifth of January. It took almost two whole weeks to get it. For someone used to using Amazon Prime, that was an eternity. But it's all ok now because I actually own it now! I put the movie in and had it playing while I got ready for Andrew and Bonnie to come over. See we had made plans to do dinner and play games and I was preparing dinner. I decided to make one of my specialties: Chili. The last time I made chili it was some of the best I've ever had. And I'm not just saying that because it was me that made it. Well this batch was not as good, but it was still quite delicious. I'm excited that I'm just about able to make it completely by taste. When Bonnie and Andrew got to the house, we ate and chatted for a bit and then it was time to bust out the games. We played Life: Twists and Turns, one of my favorites, and a new game called Bezzerwizzer. It's a trivia game where you can steal peoples points and/or switch your categories with your opponents. We ended up playing that for close to two hours, but the time just flew by. With the game finished(won by Andrew, he won both games actually) I sent Andrew and Bonnie away, because because it was late and I had to go to bed. Morning was going to come early.

See you tomorrow,

Philip

It's Tuesday today. Another work day, so nothing very exciting for the first eight hours of the day. More editing. I did a Canadian cartoon channel today, so that was fun. Then I came home and watched last nights How I Met Your Mother. It was one of the best episodes of the series. After that was done, I went and got some dinner and some tomatoes for making chili.
Yes I already am using a picture of food
Can I just say how delicious Chicken Express is? Well it is. Anyway, I spent the remainder of the evening watching How I Met Your Mother season 5 so I could give it back to Andrew. When I finished disc 3, I played some more Mass Effect 2(still awesome). Not the most exciting day, but when you have a full time job, there isn't a whole lot of time to do a whole heck of a lot.

See you tomorrow

Well it's the weekday and that means one thing: WORK! But that also means the weekday posts will most likely be much shorter. I'm enjoying my time at work, I'm starting to get into a bit of a rhythm and things are going well.
Look at my work space, it's adorable

I started my day continuing to proof schedules like I have been for a few days. It's easy, but can get a little repetitive after a few days of doing nothing else. That's why I was very excited when at about 10:30 a new thing was added....EDITING! I got to start editing schedules. Editing is fun, but it requires WAY more focus than proofing. I continued to do that for the rest of the day and then came home. I'm not going to lie to you, my loyal readers, I played Mass Effect 2 all night. Now, there was a break for dinner where I went to Subway and then used my Redbox coupon to get Nightmare on Elm Street. I watched that for about 36 minutes and then got bored and started playing Mass Effect 2 some more. Not the most exciting day, I know, but I'm gonna be honest, I love Mass Effect 2.

See you tomorow,

01/02/2010

Well, things are still going pretty nicely this year. I got up and went to church, which was pretty good. Randy talked about living in the light. I know it got me thinking about how I'm living this new year. After service was over I had to go see Bryan and Minako since they are leaving tomorrow and I had to say goodbye (and pay Bryan the last bit for Pokemon). I didn't stay for class because I thought I was going to go to my grandparents house to mow the lawn, but after I left I got a voice mail that said my grandpa was joking about needing it mowed, so I just stayed at home. After hanging out for just a little while Aimee and Luke got here back from their ski trip with Luke's family. We sat and talked for a bit and then headed to Taco Bueno for lunch. Then I played some more Mass Effect 2 for a couple hours. Still love that game. After a bit I got a text from Ty asking if I would bring his Xbox back to him. See, a few weeks ago Ty let me borrow his Xbox because mine was broken. However, since I got a new one for Christmas, he wanted his back. Which was fair. So I packed up his Xbox and headed over to his house. It was nice to see him again and to watch some Red vs Blue. As I was heading back home, I remembered that my back tire was really low. So I headed home to get some change to put some air in my tire and then head over to Firestone to get it patched. Altogether a boring trip, but important because I had to get it fixed or I probably wouldn't be able to get to work in the morning. Finally, I headed over to Borders because not only did I have $5 in Borders Bucks, but more importantly, I also had a 50% off coupon. That's how I was able to get a $50 board game for just under $20.

It's a world of SLaughter after all...is the tagline on the box

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to try it out yet so I'll have to let you know how it is later. Anyway, my mom made us pancakes for dinner and we watched The Soup's top 40 best videos of the year, Mythbusters, and an episode of The Muppet Show. Then I watched a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother and headed to bed. I have to get up to be at work at 7:30 tomorrow.

See you tomorrow,

01/01/2011

Well here it is, my solution to how to one up every body STEALING my idea! Just kidding, I think it's awesome, but I had to do something different. Since I already proved that I had the discipline to take and post one picture each day for an entire year I thought I'd test my mettle and add a blog post to it. So 2011 started pretty good for me. I had a nice relaxing evening at home on New Years Eve, stayed up watching movies, and rang in the new year hearing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" from Spamalot. (It was on the Dallas NYE special.) As I went to bed at about 12:30 I thought to myself "I have a good feeling about this year..." Luckily I woke up with the same feeling. New Years Day was actually a lot of fun. After playing some Mass Effect 2 and watching the commentary on Easy A I got took a shower, since my grandparents were coming over for lunch. Well they got to the house while I was in the shower, but once I got out we all sat around the table and just chatted while waiting for my cousin Ross to get here. Once he did, we all had fired chicken from Albertsons for lunch. It was actually surprisingly good.  The fun came after lunch. When we all got done eating and chatted for a little bit longer, Ross and I decided to relive our childhood a bit by playing Gunstar Heroes. We used to play that game all the time when we were kids.

The intense focus needed to defeat Red

Sadly, Ross had to leave to go get packed so he could head back to North Carolina for a few more months. So after saying our goodbyes I fired up Mass Effect 2 while my mom taught my grandparents how to play Phase 10. They did that for about thirty minutes and we decided that we should head over to my grandparents house so my mom could use their amazing massage chair. We headed over and from there I did pretty much one thing for about five hours, played Mass Effect 2. I love that game so much. Mass Effect was one of my favorite games of all time, and this new one just blows the original out of the water. There was a steak and potatoes dinner complete with black eyed peas involved, but the primary focus of the night was Mass Effect 2. After a few hours I took a thirty minute break to play Fallout: New Vegas, but I couldn't stop thinking about Mass Effect 2. Since my mom and grandparents decided to play an extra game of Phase 10, we ended up staying at their house until almost 11. I was exhausted. We got home and I went to bed. So overall it was a pretty great first day of the new year. Hopefully my good feeling I had going to bed early January 1st will prove to be true and the whole year will be good. Well if you've read this far, congratulations! I hope you also stay with me throughout this journey. I hope you learn a bit about me and maybe I'll learn a bit about you.

See you tomorrow,

Philip Lopez
