01/01/2011

Well here it is, my solution to how to one up every body STEALING my idea! Just kidding, I think it's awesome, but I had to do something different. Since I already proved that I had the discipline to take and post one picture each day for an entire year I thought I'd test my mettle and add a blog post to it. So 2011 started pretty good for me. I had a nice relaxing evening at home on New Years Eve, stayed up watching movies, and rang in the new year hearing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" from Spamalot. (It was on the Dallas NYE special.) As I went to bed at about 12:30 I thought to myself "I have a good feeling about this year..." Luckily I woke up with the same feeling. New Years Day was actually a lot of fun. After playing some Mass Effect 2 and watching the commentary on Easy A I got took a shower, since my grandparents were coming over for lunch. Well they got to the house while I was in the shower, but once I got out we all sat around the table and just chatted while waiting for my cousin Ross to get here. Once he did, we all had fired chicken from Albertsons for lunch. It was actually surprisingly good.  The fun came after lunch. When we all got done eating and chatted for a little bit longer, Ross and I decided to relive our childhood a bit by playing Gunstar Heroes. We used to play that game all the time when we were kids.

The intense focus needed to defeat Red

Sadly, Ross had to leave to go get packed so he could head back to North Carolina for a few more months. So after saying our goodbyes I fired up Mass Effect 2 while my mom taught my grandparents how to play Phase 10. They did that for about thirty minutes and we decided that we should head over to my grandparents house so my mom could use their amazing massage chair. We headed over and from there I did pretty much one thing for about five hours, played Mass Effect 2. I love that game so much. Mass Effect was one of my favorite games of all time, and this new one just blows the original out of the water. There was a steak and potatoes dinner complete with black eyed peas involved, but the primary focus of the night was Mass Effect 2. After a few hours I took a thirty minute break to play Fallout: New Vegas, but I couldn't stop thinking about Mass Effect 2. Since my mom and grandparents decided to play an extra game of Phase 10, we ended up staying at their house until almost 11. I was exhausted. We got home and I went to bed. So overall it was a pretty great first day of the new year. Hopefully my good feeling I had going to bed early January 1st will prove to be true and the whole year will be good. Well if you've read this far, congratulations! I hope you also stay with me throughout this journey. I hope you learn a bit about me and maybe I'll learn a bit about you.

See you tomorrow,

Philip Lopez
